Drive Smarter with Kia Safety Technology

Kia Drive Wise is a suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features to help drivers stay alert and enjoy a stress-free driving experience. While the Drive Wise system is not a replacement for safe driving, it's nice to know that your new Kia model can step in and help avoid collisions, automatically adjust your speed while traveling on the highway, and even detect pedestrians, cyclists or other hazards in your blind-spots.

Not all new Kia vehicles come with all the following features, but they are available on most models and trim levels. You can ask our team about any of the features that come standard on your new Kia.

Auto Emergency Braking Technology

Automatic emergency braking steps in to prevent collisions by automatically applying the brakes and bringing the vehicle to a stop when a hazard is detected too close to the vehicle. New Kia models have sensors in the front and rear that can detect pedestrians, cyclists, or other objects. Some models also have enhanced Auto Emergency Braking Technology that works while making a left-hand turn. It's a great feature for city driving, where navigating crowded streets can feel challenging.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist & Blind-Spot Collision Warning

Ever wish you had a spotter that could tell you when it's clear to change lanes? With the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind Spot Collision Warning system, your new Kia will act as your personal spotter and provide you with a visual and audible warning while preventing you from changing lanes when it detects another vehicle or hazard in your blind spot.

Blind-Spot View Monitor

Many newer Kia models have an additional camera to display a live view of your side blind spot when you activate the turn signal. The live camera view lets you see the lane you are attempting to merge into so you know when the way is clear.

Smart Cruise Control w/ Stop & Go

The Smart Cruise Control automatically adjusts the speed while cruising at highway speeds, but it also works in stop-go traffic. The system detects the vehicle ahead, maintains a safe distance, and can restart within three seconds of coming to a complete stop in traffic.

Highway Driving Assist

Not only can new Kia vehicles maintain a safe distance, but they can also automatically adjust the cruising speed to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and adjust the speed based on posted speed limits.

Surround View Monitor

The Surround View Monitor is typically an enhanced feature you'll find on higher-level Kia trim levels. It offers a convenient bird's-eye view of the vehicle, providing enhanced awareness in tight parking situations and helps prevent potential collisions.

Safe Exit Warning

The Safe Exit Warning system will warn rear passengers exiting the vehicle when it detects an approaching vehicle. On new Kia vehicles, the enhanced version of the Safe Exit Warning will prevent rear passengers from opening the door as an added safety measure.

Rear Cross-Traffic Warning and Avoidance Technology (Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist)

The U.S. Government mandated the installation of rear camera systems for all new vehicles starting in 2018. This simple solution has helped save lives and prevent drivers from blindly backing out and hitting people or objects. New Kia vehicles take the next step and detect vehicle cross traffic while in reverse. If the vehicle is equipped with the advanced version, the vehicle will automatically brake to avoid a collision.
