Engine Options and Fuel Economy

Engine options on the 2021 Kia Sorento are available in either FWD or AWD. Depending on which Kia Sorento trim level you are interested in, engine options could include a standard 191-hp 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine or a 281-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Both options get paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Choose the hybrid and that engine is a turbo 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a 44-kW electric motor mated to a 6-speed automatic. The base engine gets an EPA-estimated 24 miles to the gallon on city streets and 29 mpg on the highway. Upgrade to the turbo engine for up to 22 mpg city and 29 highway. As one might expect the hybrid option gets 39 miles per gallon in the city with 35 mpg on the highway.

2021 Kia Sorento Interior

We think you will love the updates to the interior. That includes options for a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The stitching on the door panels and seat inserts is quite impressive as is the rotary shift knob. There are cubby holes galore and an increase in the wheelbase means more room on the inside. Swap comfort for practicality and get two captain's chairs in the second row instead of a bench.

Tech and Safety Features

The Sorento comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with the option of a 10.3-inch touchscreen. We appreciate the wireless charging pad and would recommend the option of a 12-speaker Bose to really enjoy your travel experience.
